In the context of Russian architecture, the building of repository museum of cognac in the city of Chernyakhovsk is a rare example of a situation when the building’s obliging function and the architects’ creative thinking do not conflict with each other but work together to create well-thought and well-balanced architecture, interesting to all human senses.

Where Best Cars Belong
The project of reconstructing the model-making workshop of the ZIL plant into a Mercedes-Benz and Audi dealership is unique even by the standards of the legendary complex. It is planned that the workshop will be restored using the elements of the dismantled building that was erected back in the 1930’s. It will become a part of the “ZIL’s Gate”, viewable from the Third Ring Road. In addition, this building will be the only one that will keep the “automotive” function – at least to some extent.

This building – sporting a hypnotically glittering façade of an almost ethereal quality – was an attempt to achieve the perfect marriage between a shopping mall and a city street. The architects of A.Len have designed a housing complex named “Russian Avant-garde” – they did everything they could to make it look up to its name. All this in spite of the fact that their part of the work started at the point when the complex was already being built by a different project, and was seemingly doomed to become yet another rank-and-file sectional building.
