Color sampling
Sunny coloring of the shopping center facades, designed by "Sergei Kiselev & Partners” for the South Butovo, surprisingly fine matches the character of the surrounding landscape - fresh, natural, not totally occupied by new urban housing developments.

Mitigating Contrast
Green spaces are very valuable in large cities. ADM bureau project of a mixed-use complex which includes a hotel, apartments and office spaces is being completed within one of such "oases" in Moscow, on the bank of Khimkinsky water basin.

Center of Perm
Administration building of Perm city has developed into a complex of the urban center in Ilya Utkin’s project. It combines the three themes: administrative building, office towers and a new traffic interchange, into a single austere Art Deco ensemble.

Front line architecture
Modern Ostozhenka has many titles. The most known is the "Golden Mile" and conservancy area of modern architecture. The first says it’s a heart of the most expensive and the most elite real estate, and the second one symbolizes the place where we take foreigners who need a proof that housing in Moscow is not always a kitsch. But Ostozhenka is not just a street, but a district among it and Prechistenskaya bank line. There are a lot of genuine antiques, much of ridiculous kitsch, but it is lacking a quality of modern architecture, rather it was. "Sergei Kiselev & Partners” designed an emphatically modern and stylish building for one of the oldest and famous streets in Moscow.

Story of the form
Numerous awards and popularity of the project of flower-villa in Turkey inspired architects from bureau of Vissarionov to experiment with private housing, this time located nearby Moscow. Authors believe the contest project of the house-transformer, a futuristic model of mobile, smart house, was the incubator of the ideas.

Islands over the sea
Studio of A.Asadov have recently designed for Sochi one of their most daring and even most fantastic projects – hotels-islands raised upon supports above the water surface. These complexes are able to compete with the project of “Federation Islands”, plus solve a number of issues of the resort and future Olympic Games city. But the question is – will they dare to build them?

Routine of the world behind a mirror
Construction project of the new buildings for IMET RAN will probably remain on paper. But it is remarkable because vividly represents the new wave of contextual architecture – large mirror-buildings which “absorb” surrounding, reflect it and create “another”, theatrical reality of the city.

Pacified contrast
“Le Grand” building is interesting with its intricate approach to the context, it takes a few traditional ideas at a time, intensifying them with hi-tech metal. Contrast of the new and the old. Sited on Nevsky prospect. But the contrast is quieted and that is the highlight of the building.

Fusion and parting
Development history of the “Fusion-park” project is a fine example how architecture depends from idea. First, the main was a museum, and mixture of forms was the theme. Then, after the museum was enclosed in body of the building, the image of complex has changed: “fusion” was replaced by opposition of “residential theme” and “work theme” in the two nearby buildings.

Kempinski hotel complex in Nizhni Novgorod is bright and diverse. Its architectural image is deep with its color, ornament, and is built around a golden tree with a firebird. It is easy to tell ornamental and fair specific of the place. So fantastic and colourful Nizhni Novgorod appears city according to the architects SPeeCH.

Colorful soul
Construction of “Centre of Pediatric Hematology, Oncology and Immunology” was started last year. Since it was approved by the Prime Minister, Putin, it has become quite popular. Must say, architecture of the centre, no doubt, vital from the medicine point, seems special - its colorfulness does not only entertain children but everything is planned so that it gives hope for recovery.

A square symphony
Playing with scale and simple forms, Nikolai Lyzlov managed to transform atrium of an office building into something Cyclopean and bewitching, a fantasy of Piranesi. They planned to realize the building, but the crisis changed plans and probably it will remain on paper. It would be interesting to see it constructed. However the project seems to be interesting on paper as well. Like Piranesi’s.

Project of the residential complex for 20 thousand people “Gardens of cultures” has the three components: urban conveniences, nature and allusions to architecture of various European countries. That is not easy. But it appears to be achievable and even possible to create a balanced image which smartly applies classic methods within modernism.

Gostiny Dvor by Lavra
Ilya Utkin chose urban regeneration for the reconstruction project of rough modernist building of “Mir” cinema built right opposite to Troitse-Sergieva Lavra in 1970. The building will be entirely transformed and become more like a Central Russian bazaar. Though the building will change, the aim is different. It would transform a part of Zagorsk town back into Sergiev Pasad. But the project will not be realized.

Pimenov fogginess
The two buildings, designed by Sergey Kiselyov’s studio in the project of regeneration, by the Pimen church in Novye vorotniki, reconstruct the volumes of the wooden small houses demolished in 1930s. This is why their above-ground constructions are desperately small, and shows how the surrounding area has grown in its height for the last 80 years. The architectural solution, on the contrary, is quite modern: stylized concrete "trees" on facade, glass, and grass on their roofs.

More than an office
It is a very neat and small building. In spring it was miniature by Moscow standards, and now it is a perfect fit as it is time of such constructions: neat and not ambitious. At the same time the project is not at all plain, and to see how those qualities merge in a single construction, we are going to consider more closely.

The house which harmonizes contrasts
This house by the sea already has five different diplomas, newest of them is the golden diploma of "Zodchestvo"-2008. Such attention is not surprising: looking at this complex one will see that its architecture is not only charged by meanings, it easily applies techniques of the two opposite styles. Within a single ensemble the authors managed to harmonize techniques of the classics and modernism – a risky course, but in the end there is an austere, but harmonious image

Faster and faster it’s running
More and more new office centres are now located not far away from MKAD. It is quite spacious here, and the architect had a chance "to play" with large forms, not worrying how they will fit into the urban development. The context – observers as well – here will be cars passing by at high speed. Seemingly, this suggested the architectural solution of the administrative and business complex on the first kilometer of Rublevo-Uspenskoe highway. It shaped…even romantic
