Miraculous transformation of a house
Numerous brick palaces and castles built in provinces around Moscow in 1990ies are among symbols of the period. However the fashion on massive structures “styled after” went by fast and nowadays such houses are being reconstructed. ADM bureau has recently completed such project, where they managed to turn a pseudo classical private residence into a work of modern architecture.

Anyone who ever bought a souvenir knows that the "Russian national crafts" and "modern design" are not very friendly to each other. Is it possible to bring a new life into something that is a real ornament of the national culture and history? Arseni Leonovich, an architect from Panacom bureau reply in the affirmative. This year, in May as a guest designer at ZAO "Russian art crafts” he started the process of introduction the industry with modern design in the town of Gus-Crystal, the oldest center of the glass industry.

A snow whirl for Sochi
Arrangements for the Olympic Games of 2014 are at full drive. In Imeretinskaya Valley a number of objects are being built at the moment, and a few other ones are in project. For many large countries the Olympic Games is a chance to demonstrate their national schools of architecture, but Russia is different. Russian architects are left to take personal initiative and make alternative projects for Sochi-2014. Such fighters for national atmosphere is A. Asadov’s studio and “Project-KS”, they have developed a conception of design of sport facilities named “sNezhnaya Russia”. Without breaking into the objects project they have created a smart “packing case” which is able to change the entire image.

Contest on the reconstruction project of the famous Apraksin Dvor in St. Petersburg became one of the most famous in architectural life of 2007. Journalists readily covered opposition of the two major players of the game: Glavstroy and Russian Land development corporations. Must admit the concepts paled beside such factors and were rarely highlighted in media. While there were interesting project among them, including the one by "Studio 44". Their concept preserves the historical structure of Apraksin Dvor and enriches it with new features.

Underground road
In Moscow, a couple of years ago, the reconstruction project of New Arbat was extensively discussed - the city authorities planned to hide a part of the street under the ground, and the rest ground part turn it into a walking boulevard with numerous recreation and shopping areas. The project still remains doubtful, the highway street is central and essential, but the Moscow architects liked the idea to hide roads under the ground and leave the town clear for foot-passenger. For example, the architectural concept of development of the Minskaya street has such town-planning concept, it is designed by the ABD architects and last year it won the open contest.

Throughout the last year the name of the residential complex "Finansist" was appearing on front pages of St. Petersburg newspapers. The conflict was up because of the height of the new building, designed by "Yevgeny Gerasimov and Partners” studio for the 27th line of Vasilevsky Island. Defenders of the canonical panoramas of St. Petersburg demanded for reduction of the residential towers height, but legality of the three-dimensional solution had all the required approvals.
