Julia Tarabarina. Nikita Yavein: “We work on the architecture of streams”
The Venice Biennale lasts for half a year, until the 25th of November, so I don’t think it’s too late to speak about the Russian pavilion as well. We chose two of its expositions for closer examination, and in this issue, we are talking to (as it turned out) an honorary railroad man, Nikita Yavein.

Elena Petukhova. The Story of Apraksin Dvor
The Saint Petersburg Council for Cultural Heritage Sites has approved of the concept of renovating “Apraksin Dvor” proposed by “Studio 44”. Based on the stage-by-stage tactics of working with the numerous owners of the buildings situated on this land site, the concept provides for a lot of new functions and a pedestrian space with a driving entrance from the underground.

Julia Tarabarina. Framework in Space
Developed by "Studio 44", the project of a judo school is based on the opposition of the modernist principle of point support and the openness of deconstruction - with their sources lying in the traditional Japanese architecture. A fair share of abstraction helps to add some stylistic discourse to the necessary level of generalization.

Julia Tarabarina. Borderline House
The residential complex that Nikita Yavein built in Kronstadt is low-rise and cost-efficient but, at the same time, it has a lot of unusual and interesting points to it, all the more so if we are to consider this project in the context of the "standardization" trend that is so characteristic of the Russian residential construction today.
