Julia Tarabarina. Routine of the world behind a mirror

Construction project of the new buildings for IMET RAN will probably remain on paper. But it is remarkable because vividly represents the new wave of contextual architecture – large mirror-buildings which “absorb” surrounding, reflect it and create “another”, theatrical reality of the city.
Pimenov fogginess

Maria Fadeeva. Pimenov fogginess

The two buildings, designed by Sergey Kiselyov’s studio in the project of regeneration, by the Pimen church in Novye vorotniki, reconstruct the volumes of the wooden small houses demolished in 1930s. This is why their above-ground constructions are desperately small, and shows how the surrounding area has grown in its height for the last 80 years. The architectural solution, on the contrary, is quite modern: stylized concrete "trees" on facade, glass, and grass on their roofs.
Faster and faster it’s running

Anna Savkina. Faster and faster it’s running

More and more new office centres are now located not far away from MKAD. It is quite spacious here, and the architect had a chance "to play" with large forms, not worrying how they will fit into the urban development. The context – observers as well – here will be cars passing by at high speed. Seemingly, this suggested the architectural solution of the administrative and business complex on the first kilometer of Rublevo-Uspenskoe highway. It shaped…even romantic

Maria Fadeeva. Fortress-chameleon

To the east from Paveletsky railroad station, in the place of the former factory there is already cleared out territory for construction of a large (112 600 sq m) business centre by the project of “Sergey Kiselyov and Partners” studio. Austere glass-brick architecture of this complex will make its 11storey volumes less marked – and at the same time it creates a high priced office space, half hidden, fenced off from motley industrial area, they has been transforming it into an office city block for a few years now

The complex “Miraks-Plaza” is a most large object that is being built today, designed by the architectural company “Sergey Kiselev and the Partners”. It is very large, the total floor space is 368 square meters. And the site for construction development is problematical. Yuri Luzhkov looking at the site said: ”…a most complicated one in Moscow, even in Russia”

Julia Tarabarina. Accord and fight

Architecture of the largest of Red Rose’s new buildings is a sculptural etude on interplay of the old and the new. They live in peace, but in some parts the façade turns into a battle scene

Julia Tarabarina. The Red rose

Reconstruction of the ‘Red rose’ is probably the most well-known reconstruction project of old factories. Started in 2003 it will be finished in 2012. There have been many argues and some have been very enthusiastic about it. We tried to digest the information, to see what will be saved and what regenerated, and what will be absolutely new there
Rational approach

Julia Tarabarina. Rational approach

It has already become a custom to say that the apartment block at Savvynskakya embankment is well-built but is far from exceptional from architectural point of view. It could be suggested however that the building has something of absolute quality – it represents an attempt to reach perfect rationalism by combining functionalism in construction and mathematical finesse of its facades.

‘Avantgard’, a new apartment house in Cheremushki, is a very summer building, and the brightness of the wallboards doesn’t spoil it, but is a benefit.
