In 2013 in Kazan there will be held the 27th Summer Universiade – the World Student Sports Games. It requires 40 sports facilities, many of which will be built specifically for the Universiade. One of the most important is the Palace of water sports designed by SPEECH architectural studio, they won the contest as well as Arup and PSO "Kazan." This facility combines the clean energy of classical modernism forms with delicate textures and technical capabilities of modern architecture.

The three years of work on the Russian architectural market SPeeCH marked by publication of a monograph with all their projects. Under the simple black cover with the studio logo there are gathered more than 30 concepts, projects and constructions, illustrating the scale, quality standards and creative principles of Sergey Tchoban, Sergei Kuznetsov and Pavel Shaburov company.

SPeeCH architectural studio designed an educational and sports complex along Zemlyanoi Val, nearly opposite to Taganka Theatre.The new 3storey volume responds the one of the most famous objects of Moscow architecture of 1970’s with the same active relief and terracotta finishing of the façade.

Minsk is one of the most dynamically building up cities among all the CIS countries capitals. Commercial real estate market and hotel business are being actively developed in Belarusian capital, so “Kempinski” idea to design for Minsk no only a hotel, but a mixed-use complex is very logical. Architectural bureau SPeeCH was commissioned to design the project MFK along Nezavisimosti avenue.

Once Barvihinskaya street was quiet and picturesque Moscow suburb, today it is part of the comfortless area, extremely close to Mozhaiskoe highway and the Moscow Ring Road. Architects from SPeeCH bureau will return the street its past plentiful greens: their project of a mixed-use complex includes about 4,000 sq m of green space.

Kempinski hotel complex in Nizhni Novgorod is bright and diverse. Its architectural image is deep with its color, ornament, and is built around a golden tree with a firebird. It is easy to tell ornamental and fair specific of the place. So fantastic and colourful Nizhni Novgorod appears city according to the architects SPeeCH.

Project of the residential complex for 20 thousand people “Gardens of cultures” has the three components: urban conveniences, nature and allusions to architecture of various European countries. That is not easy. But it appears to be achievable and even possible to create a balanced image which smartly applies classic methods within modernism.

It is a very neat and small building. In spring it was miniature by Moscow standards, and now it is a perfect fit as it is time of such constructions: neat and not ambitious. At the same time the project is not at all plain, and to see how those qualities merge in a single construction, we are going to consider more closely.

The project of the building on Granatny pereulok looks like a resumption of Sergey Tchoban’s graphic-ornamental searches started in St. Petersburg. Being grafted in Moscow the themes undergoes a number of changes, puts on stone and brings to life Byzantine memories which get an absolutely new interpretation here.
