Among other cities, the list of possible candidates to host FIFA World Cup in 2018 includes Nizhniy Novgorod. For the famous Nizhniy Novgorod’s “Strelka” (“Arrow”, place where the Oka flows into the Volga), “Studio 44” has designed a stadium in the shape of man-made green hill topped off with a white cup.

And, in spite of the fact that the project of Nikita Yavein’s team did not win the contest, the experts gave it an honorable mention for the detailed approach and attempts to deal with the most challenging issues of the building located at Lubyanskaya Square.

Just like the reconstruction of the East wing of the General Staff Building, the architects’ new work presents an excellent example of correct mix of up-to-date creative and technical solutions with the historic architecture.
