Julia Tarabarina. Aleksei Ilyin: “I approach every task with genuine interest”

Aleksei Ilyin has been working on major urban projects for more than 30 years. He has all the necessary skills for high-rise construction in Moscow – yet he believes it’s essential to maintain variety in the typologies and scales represented in his portfolio. The site is located on a natural hill. The main idea of the project is an organic integration into the landscape and a careful approach to the natural environment. The architecture of the main volume follows the natural lines of the hill, and all buildings on the site are positioned to preserve the maximum number of existing trees. The concert hall is located directly on the slope; the overhanging part of the building mirrors the form of the terrace and creates an observation deck with a picturesque view.

Thanks to its semi-enclosed layout, the territory forms its own microclimate with a botanical garden and artificial ponds that create the main axis of the site. The main pedestrian route is laid along this axis. It is also possible to walk along the entire building via a gallery that provides access to the spa, the indoor pool, the hotel, the restaurants, and the medical center. The entrances to the apartments are designed on the outer side of the building.
