Kleinewelt Аrchitekten is an architectural and research company.
Our method is based on the analytical approach to designing things. Every time when we start a new project we do a cross-discipline survey that helps us to come up with adequate and at the same time interesting and unconventional solutions.
Our portfolio includes strategies for developing whole cities (Krasnoturyinsk and Michurinsk), unusual public buildings (the Winery House in Gai-Kodzor (Armenia), the Movie Theater in the Gorky Park); reconstruction of the former “communal kitchen” on the Novokuznetskaya Street in Moscow, pavilions in the Tagansky Park and at the VDNKh exhibition, a residential building on the Sivtsev Vrazhek, and a housing project in the Olsufyevsky Side-street.
We see our projects from beginning to end – starting with the preliminary survey and the first sketches and ending with author supervision of the construction. This is why we stand by our performance.
We create a cozy atmosphere and human-friendly environments regardless of the scale of our project – be that a housing project or a single office building. Each of our projects is a microcosm – a small world in, die kleine Welt.

Julia Tarabarina. CinemaHologram
Not long ago, the Moscow authorities approved the project for a new House of Cinema complex by Kleinewelt Architekten. The original 1968 building could not be preserved – yet the architects managed to save its stained-glass panels, metal reliefs, and even the volumetric parameters of the structure, which will continue to house the Union of Cinematographers and cinema halls. The project’s main focal point, however, will be a residential tower. We examine its sculptural qualities and its allusions within the Moscow context.

Alyona Kuznetsova. Microdynamics of Macroprocesses
Given the proximity of the multifunctional complex SOLOS to Sokolniki Park and to a major transport hub, Kleinewelt Architekten embedded in the design of the two high-rise towers a sense of dynamism more characteristic of natural phenomena than of man-made objects. Without the authors’ diagrams, this logic is not easy to decipher, although the eye immediately detects a pattern and tries to grasp it. It seems to us that one tower contains the impulse of a bud about to open, while the other evokes the movement of a lithospheric plate. Let us try to unravel it together.

Julia Tarabarina. Needles of Horizon Contemplation
The “House of Horizons”, designed by Kleinewelt Architekten in Krylatskoye, is carefully thought out at the stereometric level – from the logic of how the volumes interlock (and, conversely, how gaps are articulated between them) to the triangular balconies that give the building its striking, slightly bristling silhouette.

Alyona Kuznetsova. The Keystone of Khodynka
Kleinewelt Architekten has designed yet another office center for the last remaining plot on the former runway of Khodynka Airfield – a project that will complete the ensemble of the Stone business cluster on this site. The fourth phase includes a 250-meter landmark tower, a 16-story building, and a podium with a cascade of public spaces. The architects continue to develop their theme of contrasts, adding to the spatial pair “horizontal-vertical” a new opposition of warmth and cold, fragility and strength, calm and momentum.
