Dewan Award for Architecture 2026 – agritectural village in Iraq
Участникам предлагается разработать концепцию «агритектурной» деревни – модели поселения, объединяющей сельскохозяйственные угодья, жилье и природный ландшафт в единую систему. Проект разрабатывается для области Бадият-эс-Самава с засушливым климатом, на фоне деградации здесь сельских территорий.
Задача – предложить многократно воспроизводимое решение, способное повысить в области качество жизни, поддержать локальную экономику и укрепить ресурсоэффективность. Особое внимание рекомендуется уделить идеи адаптации к экстремальным климатическим условиям, а также учету культурного и исторического контекста.
Tamayouz Excellence Award invites architects, planners, landscape architects, and engineers worldwide to respond to a pressing and increasingly global challenge: the future of rural life as productive land becomes progressively arid.
Participants are invited to propose an 'AgriTectural Village' — a new and replicable model for integrated rural living in Badiyat Al-Samawa, where agriculture, settlement, and landscape are conceived as a single, interdependent system.
This is a landscape that forms part of the cradle of human civilisation, where early Sumerian settlements and agricultural systems first emerged. Today, the region is shaped by extreme climatic conditions, environmental stress, and rural decline.
For participants, this is not only an exercise in problem-solving, but an opportunity to test how architecture, spatial systems, and design thinking can actively shape new rural futures under extreme conditions.
This year’s competition calls for visionary yet implementable ideas that elevate quality of life, diversify rural economies, and strengthen environmental resilience, while respecting the agricultural, cultural, and historical identity of the region.
