Премия присуждается за лучшие концепции и реализованные проекты в сфере устойчивого развития городов. Участники делятся на две категории. Первая представлена профессиональными архитекторами, вторая – студентами, представителями общественных организаций, фондов и ассоциаций. Победители будут определены в каждой из категорий.

The National Board of Architects, Planners, Landscape Architects and Conservation Architects (CNAPPC - Consiglio Nazionale Architetti, Pianificatori, Paesaggisti e Conservatori) is convinced that the policies of sustainable urban regeneration represent a unique and impelling occasion for concretely stimulating the architectural, environmental, energetic and social requalification of Italian cities.
The awareness that territorial resources are finite and that cities must acquire the ability to reconstruct themselves from within, partly in order to provide a habitat that offers citizens the greatest possible quality of life, has led CNAPPC, ANCE - Associazione Nazionale Costruttori Edili and LEGAMBIENTE to promote the RI.U.SO program, involving the leading players in the construction and environmental sectors.
The increased awareness on the part of administrators and institutions regarding the need to initiate coordinated and cooperative processes of urban renewal and implementation of safety measures for existing structures, and thus to move towards the definition of a concrete National Plan for Sustainable Urban Regeneration, is being realized through a series of political and regulatory initiatives that involve the architectural community and, more in general, the sector’s cultural and professional system.
In this context, the CNAPPC is promoting, together with SAIE, the International Salon of Industrial Construction (Salone Internazionale dell'Innovazione Edilizia), a selection of the best design projects and innovative realizations in the sector of Sustainable Urban Regeneration, in collaboration with L'Architetto, Point Zero, The Plan, Divisare - by Europaconcorsi, Edilio.
Participants in the contest submit design projects or designs of realized works in the areas of architectural and functional requalification of urban spaces, recovery of abandoned industrial areas, recycling of materials used in construction processes, promotion of technologies for sustainability and existing structures, densification of urban spaces and the city and containment of consumption of the soil.
Design projects may be submitted by the following subjects: Architects and engineers, Public Administrations, Public Agencies, Foundations, Associations, Baccalaureate and Masters theses. The only design projects excluded are those which were already submitted to the previous edition of RI.U.SO.
