Laguna Vere: Reviving a Brutalist Masterpiece
Участникам конкурса предлагается разработать проект ревитализации плавательного бассейна «Лагуна Вере» в Тбилиси – важного памятника архитектуры советской эпохи. Задача – переосмыслить этот заброшенный объект, сохранив его как объект наследия и наделив новыми функциями. Пространство может превратиться в инновационный центр, рекреационный «оазис», спортивный комплекс, университетский кампус или нечто совершенно новое – конкурс оставляет широкий простор для идей и многофункциональных решений.
The competition offer participants an unparalleled opportunity to chart their course in defining the project’s program. From envisioning a bustling innovation center to a wellness retreat, from a recreational urban oasis to a contemporary sport complex or a university campus, the creative horizon spans infinitely, beckoning designers to explore a multitude of possibilities encouraging a multifunctional approach.
The allure of an exceptional architecture lies in its ability to inspire diverse interpretations. Therefore, there are no limitations regarding the determination of whether the intervention will be of low or high impact. Both approaches will be welcomed and assessed by the international jury panel on equal basis.
Participants are welcome to propose any kind of modifications to the site.
However, the preservation of the original architectural and artistic elements of Laguna Vere will be considered of utmost importance. The contest encourages to expand the concept beyond the buildings' interiors: the canvas extends to facades, intermediate spaces and structural elements.
The project may encompass various sort of interventions and surface enhancements, such as thoughtful extensions and additions (including new openings). Nevertheless, the bedrock of each proposal will lie in its alignment with the core concept, ensuring a cohesive and purposeful transformation.
It is strongly recommended to think carefully about the context in which Laguna Vere is inserted. Understanding and acknowledging the adjacent urban environment will be a pivotal factor, ensuring that any proposed changes complement and integrate harmoniously with the surroundings.
Finally, outdoor areas will be crucial in establishing new connections between the different programs within the complex. Careful attention to landscape design, outdoor furnishings and complementary activities should be prioritised to craft welcoming spaces where everyday life can unfold seamlessly.
