Участникам предлагается исследовать возможности строительства и жизни под землей как альтернативного и «устойчивого» решения для будущего человечества.
Цель конкурса – поиск новых, более эффективных и доступных способов использования подземного пространства: здесь можно размещать загрязняющую в иных условиях окружающую среду сооружения, при этом сохраняя в неприкосновенности земную поверхность.
Конкурсанты могут предлагать концепции инфраструктуры, жилья и т. д., учитывающие современные технологии и потенциал дальнейшего развития. Организаторы призывают разрабатывать междисциплинарные проекты, объединяющие архитектуру, конструктивные решения и художественный подход.
With the increasing threat of climate change and a rapidly growing global population, there has never been a greater need to find alternative, sustainable ways to live. That’s where the Deep Underground project comes in.
The aim of the project is to explore the possibilities of the newly proposed Deep Underground concept, which explores the exploitation of the underground in less expensive, more effective, and more sustainable ways.
What exactly does this mean? This is a reality today. A spectrum of available technologies are currently being used to construct road and highway tunnels or excavate ore in mines. Some projects enlist the help of a worker with a jack and shovel, while others utilize giant steel worms called tunnel boring machines (TBM). Underground construction is an expensive, dirty, and slow job today.
The core of the Deep Underground concept is to construct more useful objects underground in a sustainable but still effective way to save surface and replace facilities that are significant sources of pollution today.
