Участникам конкурса предлагается разработать проект реставрации и приспособления под новые функции заброшенного здания таможни в заповеднике Пунта-Бьянка рядом с Агридженто на Сицилии.
Необходимо создать современное функциональное пространство, которое сможет принимать тысячи любителей природы, ежегодно посещающих заповедник. Проект должен соединять сохранение культурного наследия с введением новых функций и сочетаться с окружающим природным ландшафтом.
Agrigento is home to a monumental heritage of immeasurable value, whose protection and enhancement represent not only a duty towards universal culture but also a vital opportunity for the economic development of the present community and future generations.
Inspired by the event celebrating Agrigento as the Italian Capital of Culture and its intrinsic connection with nature, the ‘Punta Bianca’ competition invites participants to develop contemporary and innovative projects.
The challenge is to imagine the redevelopment of the Customs House, currently abandoned, transforming it into a vibrant and attractive building to welcome visitors eager to explore this area of unparalleled natural wealth.
The unique and exceptional location of the house within the landscape is the project’s primary appeal. However, it will be the designers’ task to reinterpret this space as a visitor centre for the Punta Bianca Nature Reserve, integrating connections and access routes to transform this ruin into a strategic point for fully experiencing the surrounding landscape.
The competition calls for proposals that respect and enhance the area’s unique natural conditions, valuing the purity and untouched character of the territory.
Projects must establish a harmonious dialogue with the landscape, showcasing the grandeur of the site through thoughtful landscape interventions and the careful selection of sustainable materials that complement the environment.
The full program definition is left to the creativity of the designers. Only a minimal requirement for functional spaces is proposed, allowing participants to offer their personal and independent interpretations of the project.
Designers are therefore invited to experiment freely, without fear of intervening in the existing building, proposing an infinite number of innovative design solutions.
