The interest in innovative projects encourages the exploration of various architectural types and materials for the Argentine home in ‘La Juanita,’ promoting the development of an original proposal that is mindful of both culture and environment.
The house should be designed for a family of four, with the possibility of receiving and eventually accommodating a couple of guests who will enjoy all the comforts and privacy. The layout, size and arrangement of the home’s intimate and social spaces, as well as their relationships and spatial hierarchies, will be at the discretion of the designers. There are no surface area limitations, allowing designers the freedom to propose the most appropriate solutions for the project. The house should also feature a swimming pool, a barbecue area and a parking space for two cars maximum (whether covered, semi-covered or open) designed to offer practical access to the home while minimizing the visual presence of vehicles in the living areas.
'La Juanita' encourages participants to think creatively and freely, adding or omitting spaces that they deem necessary for the contemporary living program in such an inspiring setting. The design can be single-story or spread over two levels (ground floor + first floor), and both compact and more dispersed layouts will be equally considered.
Designers are invited to incorporate double-height spaces, semi-covered areas, pergolas, galleries, terraces and exterior flooring treatments, ensuring a gradual transition from the interior to the surrounding nature. These intermediate zones will be crucial for the everyday use of the house, providing enjoyment throughout the year. Do not forget to enhance and value the incredible views with your design proposal.
It will be essential to consider the characteristics of sun exposure, visuals and topography of the site. The integration of existing vegetation into the new project and the landscaping of the exterior spaces will also be highly valued. The formal expression of the project and the choice of materials should harmonize sensitively with the natural landscape. The land-use strategy must ensure privacy and respect for neighboring areas.
