Single-family home? Multi-generation home? Cooperative? Shared flat? What best suits the way we see our life plans unfolding? What facilitates a more social existence in a multi-family house? And how can we build new ones or adapt ones that already exist to fit in with these ideas? More specifically: How do we want to live?
That's the very theme of this year's Social Design Award, which SPIEGEL WISSEN and SPIEGEL ONLINE are hosting in partnership with BAUHAUS for the sixth time. We're seeking the best ideas and projects for the way we want to live in the future. These can be architectural drafts, but also existing or planned projects focusing on new forms of living or community. The deadline for entries is August 31, 2019. A jury of experts and the readers of SPIEGEL Wissen and SPIEGEL ONLINE will each select a winner from the submissions. The winners of the jury award and the audience award will both receive the Social Design Award, which comes with a 2,500 euro prize for each category.
A jury and you, as a reader, will decide on the best projects and ideas, because the Social Design Award always selects two winners. SPIEGEL ONLINE readers select the winner of the audience award based on a shortlist, and the jury selects one winner for its prize.
