Bamboo Architecture Competition for the Village of Rural Makers
В настоящее время в Китае каждый день исчезает более 100 деревень. Проблема растущих городов встает все более остро. Поэтому организаторы состязания предлагают подумать над тем, как сделать сельскую местность более привлекательной как для жителей страны, так и для туристов. На конкурсной территории предлагается создать некую «деревню творцов», жизнь в которой не ограничится ведением фермерского хозяйства. Здесь появится также развитая инфраструктура: выставочные пространства, арт-резиденция, библиотека, бары, рестораны и другие объекты. Основное требование: преобладающим материалом в проектах должен быть бамбук.

The countryside carries so much emotional weight and nostalgia through thousands of years of time. Currently, more than 100 villages disappear every day in China. On the other hand, the rise of city living standards and GDP require a more suitable tourist experience in the surviving villages. How can we combine the inheritance and preservation of villages with a countryside tourism business model? To provide a better ecosystem for lodge and inn, farm, organic agriculture and handmade crafts is the challenge that we are facing now!
Makers are the group of people who are leading us towards a future lifestyle. They make the impossible possible. Makers are affecting every field of our life, from the internet, design, products, finance, interaction, community, biology, science and all other aspects to provide us a better living quality and a whole new experience. Thus, once the countryside meets the makers, tradition meets innovation; nostalgia meets the crowd fund. What kind of spark will that make?
The rural maker includes but is not limited to lodge owners, craftsmen, nature schools, education camps, organic food producers, e-commerce, and farm owners.
Bamboo, a symbol of oriental culture, at the same time a fast-growing renewable material, appears to have many superb structural characteristics. We are looking for great ideas and interesting solutions from a design team, to utilize the excellent physical abilities of bamboo, and push the envelope of imagination, to create a village of rural makers and find a new system for the sustainable grow of the traditional village.
