Цель конкурса – найти архитектурное решение, которое станет связующим звеном для двух лондонских районов: Шордича и Брик Лэйн. Задача участников – предложить проект реконструкции старой наземной железнодорожной станции Шордич. Выбор функционального назначения здания остается на усмотрение конкурсантов. Однако необходимо учесть интересы местных жителей. Еще одно пожелание организаторов конкурса – проекты должны быть потенциально реализуемы в других районах города.

M-Arch is excited to announce that the latest contest will concern requalification of the old Shoreditch Overground station. The competition aims at integrating the new upcoming and fashionable Shoreditch and the old and multicultural soul of Brick Lane.
This London neighbour is famously unique for its different cultures that made it one of the most eclectic and vibrant places in the world. By designing a leisure building in the Shoreditch and Brick Lane areas the designers will inevitably find a solution to connect them to the other cultural landmark already in the surrounding area.
Applicants are warmly invited to find new and creative responses to the social gap affecting the new London. The function of this project is providing collective space for self-growth of the local community.
By looking at surrounding areas and the city necessities it will be fundamental to understand which type of function will have the final space. It could be any type of commercial and flexible space from a small set of units for single merchants to a big open space for workshops.
There are no restrictions in the choices, but the use must be related to the residents. The maximum height of the new build must be 9m according to the council’s regulations. M-Arch does not set any restriction on the solution of this competition in order to let designers think out of the box. However, the solution must be feasible and might be reused in other area of the city.
