Natural light – International Design Competition by Little Sun and the VELUX Group
В мире до сих пор осталось множество мест, где электричество недоступно простым жителям. Особенно много таких поселений в Африке и Юго-Восточной Азии. Чтобы помочь людям получить устойчивые источники энергии и света, участники конкурса могут разработать дизайн лампы на солнечных батареях. Основные критерии: ориентированность на потребителя, эко-устойчивость, экономический потенциал, низкая цена (не более 4 евро) и вес не более 30 г.
Параллельно со студенческим проходит еще один творческий конкурс от этих же организаторов, названный "Поймай солнце!": все желающие могут продемонстрировать свой креативный взгляд на жизнь, разместив на сайте конкурса фото, тем или иным образом связанное с солнцем.

Natural Light – International Design Competition invites design students from around the world to produce a design for a special edition solar lamp for the VELUX Group and Little Sun in honor of VKR’s 75th anniversary. The winning design will address the need for light, particularly in off-grid African regions, and will be powered by Little Sun’s proven high standard of technology.
Little Sun has already developed a happy, colourful and engaging solution to this global challenge, and would like to inspire students to also engage by designing a light source to enhance the quality of life for people around the world – a lamp that people will enjoy while studying, cooking, working, and spending time with friends and family.
Using entrepreneurial distribution models, the Natural Light project will donate an initial supply of 14,500 solar lamps, which will be sold at locally affordable prices, into communities without electricity, thereby creating employment opportunities and growing communities. The solar lamps will also help preserve fresh air by reducing the widespread use of toxic carbon-emitting kerosene lanterns, and instead, harnessing the sustainable energy of the sun. Another 14,500 lamps will be distributed to VKR Holding’s employees and competition participants.
Additionally a separate competition, Capture the Sun!, encourages anyone to upload pictures of their own illustrations of the sun and hereby compete for prizes through public voting.
