Viewpoint in Pulpit Rock
Задача участников конкурса – предложить идеи по созданию смотровой площадки на гигантском утесе Прекестулен в Норвегии. Необходимо сделать человеческое вмешательство в уникальный природный ландшафт максимально незаметным и, главное, безвредным. Помимо пространства для созерцания, конкурсантам нужно предусмотреть небольшую зону отдыха, в которой будут располагаться ресторан и туалетные комнаты.

When we talk about landscape, we instinctively think of the beauty of a natural place. In many cases the term is related to its representation in a painting or a photograph. Our proposal is to integrate the landscape with the architectural object. A place of contemplation of nature, where height is achieved without urban mechanisms and the limit becomes the key element of the enclave.
The images between these lines speak for themselves. Geological phenomena have created a unique landscape perspective, where the air is the only thing that separates man from emptiness. This sense of freedom is rarely found in today’s world where we live. In contrast to the saturation of the city where the horizon is not visible since everything is built on high and wide. The landscape here presented is totally opposed, making the game with limits key.
The chosen location is not at all random, despite its isolation, is one of the most appreciated place by lovers of nature. As a natural landscape is fragile and therefore the depth of intervention must be justified. We must find the opposite of what man usually does. No need to model and make human landscape. What we present is so vast that it is difficult to measure or cover, therefore it is necessary for us to let go of trying to box views, nature, we should rather understand that we are one grain into the great mountain that forms The Pulpit Rock. With our actions and architecture we must find the key to preserving its wildness and freedom.
How to act without overreacting? How to build without destroying? How to help interpret and understand the human scale of the nonhuman?
