In the village of Gribki located 15 kilometres away from Moscow, “Asadov Architectural Bureau” has designed a new shopping mall. The architectural solution of the centre that is going to specialize in selling products and equipment for the extreme sports and active leisure, fully answers its future function.
The work on the shopping mall project started with the commissioner showing the architects the ready technological layout that fit the average "box" and which the architects were to liven up. Thankfully, the speciality of the shopping mall lent itself to this. Because the idea was that one part of the building will showcase the goods for the winter sports, and the other – for the aquatic ones, the basic solution of the development of the existing volume was self-apparent. The solution was made all the more dramatic at the expense of the shape of the land site that is a little bent: at this crease the building sort of falls apart in two. One half detached itself from the ground and took off, while the other kind of dived under it. Their side facets bent stubbornly. The "torn" fabric of the façade showed glittering glass, and the high "wave" of the atrium surfed on the bend.

In spite of the fact that the architecture turned out to be a little "on the literature side", its appearance fully answers its content. The dramatic sculptural shape is rational and functional at the same time. Under the shopping floors that are lifted 5 meters high in the air, an open parking lot is placed. Apart from it, there is also an underground parking garage. The two-level mall can also be accessed via elevators from its underground part. The shopping floors are pierced with the bands of the travolators installed in the atrium. On the sides of the shopping area, there are the two key large stores of water and winter sports. In the middle, around the atrium, there is a multitude of smaller shops and cafes.

The outward facing will be executed from sandwich panels with finish that imitates plywood texture so as to make the building look like a bent wooden strip. The atrium, regardless of whether there will be a garden on the roof or not, will be turned into a green oasis - from above the lianas and basket plants. Such "phytotherapy" is meant not only remind of the distant tropics that one can conquer with the help of the water sports equipment that's sold here but also liven up the customer all year round.
