In its new project the ‘Panacom’ workshop aimed at combining luxury with simplicity while creating a laconic image of ‘residential cell’
It has recently become fashionable to buy apartments in Sochi and to spend holidays at Krasnaya Polyana. A corporate health centre planned by the ‘Panacom’ workshop in the Achipse river valley gives and interesting example of hybrid typology architecture, new to Krasnaya Polyana.
The health centre is to be built not far from chair lifts that bring people to ski resorts; it will be situated on the side of the Achishkho mountain covered by trees, along the river. The health centre will be placed between Krasnaya Polyana and a forest reserve.
The building has two very different facades and vertical zoning. In fact the health centre consists of several interconnected houses. They share a courtyard and swimming pool zone. The centre ñould accommodate 14 persons – it would have 7 guest rooms. They are satiated at top floors of the two two-stored blocks; each has its own kitchen and dining room and is self-sufficient. On the ground floor between the blocks a ‘SPA- space’ is situated; in the other block the ground floor holds rooms and a kitchen for the staff as well as a garage.
As a result the ground floor expands along the slope while the top floor looks as if it consisted of separate houses. Local climate made it necessary to use numerous blinds to protect residents from the sun. In order to provide shadow side walls of the houses expand out side; thus all bedrooms got loggias. Structural wall are made of monolithic reinforced concrete constructions while decorations are of natural materials (stone and wood). The inner spaces of loggias are painted in different colours so that it would be easier for guests to identify their houses, especially at night.
If one looks from the river side, or from the swimming pool one sees a group of wooden parallelepipeds; each of them lacks the front wall that is replaced by deep loggia and stained glass. In fact, it is a house-balcony dug into the mountainous slope to cool down.
