Throughout the last year A. Asadov’s architectural studio and “Grand Project City" were developing the project of “Konstantinovo” residential district for Domodedovo, Moscow region. The project originated a new tradition – contests within the studio. The architects selected the best project and added most interesting ideas of other participants.
The best is "Palitra” project by Alexander Poroshkin and Natalia Poroshkina they suggested a simple and rational structure of residential areas. City-blocks are “cut out” by a single pattern: their blind long facades face the road, creating a kind of “fortress wall”, behind which there are scattered housing enclaves, according to the distance from the highway they gradually reduce their height from multistory apartment buildings to private cottages. "Palitra" projects was taken as a basis and completed by the best ideas of the other participants. It gave the rigid structure, a fortress wall concept, the inner system of city-blocks. There remained idea of separating the city-blocks by color, but their brightness was softened. However, the structure of the housing was changed entirely - in order to keep to insolation regulations it was became compact and has no private 1story houses anymore. Remarkably, the garden plots were preserved and attached to ground floor apartment. Top storey dwellers will have their own patio, green roof terraces. Despite the rigid structure of the city-blocks, the architects did their best to landscape them most flexibly. Here and there appear yards, territories have picturesque landscaping, and even the paving of fire engines driveways is rarefied for growing grass. Roadways are removed out of the city-blocks or taken under the ground, so all the inner yards are left exclusively to foot-walkers.
