Mucahid Abdullah Yuksek, Nese Gurallar. Title of report: The City of Van in the Late Ottoman Period

The city of Van, on the Eastern Turkey, is a walled settlement around a citadel built on a high hill on the shores of the lake of Van. Over time, settlements have developed outside of the city walls. In the city of Van, which was home to many civilizations in its history, different ethnic groups such as Armenians, Kurds, and Turks continued to live together during the Ottoman period. However, as a result of the conflicts in the city towards the end of the 19th century, the city was destroyed completely. At the beginning of the 20th century, today's city of Van was established in the new settlement area further away from the lake of Van. In this study, the urban form of Van in the 19th century was examined, and the changes in the late 19th and early 20th centuries were observed.
