К вопросу о декоративном убранстве раннехристианской архитектуры Арцаха: по материалам Арцахского Тигранакерта

The report is dedicated to the study of the decorative ornamentation of monuments of Early Christian architecture in Artsakh, based on the materials from the Tigranakert archaeological complex. The monuments uncovered during archaeological investigations in the city represent an important source for reconstructing the artistic and architectural features of cult buildings from the Early Christian period.

The study examines architectural details (bases, capitals, cornices) and decorative elements discovered during the excavations, including ornamented stone fragments, profiled architectural decor elements, and features of the treatment of building materials. Analysis of these finds allows for the identification of characteristic traits of the decorative system of Early Christian architecture in the region, as well as the determination of the role of local artistic traditions in shaping the architectural appearance of cult buildings.
Particular attention is given to comparing the identified decorative elements with analogous examples from monuments of Early Christian architecture in Armenia and neighboring regions. Comparative analysis allows tracing common stylistic trends, as well as identifying the specific features of regional variants of architectural decoration.

The materials from Tigranakert make it possible to clarify the position of Artsakh’s architectural monuments within the context of the development of early Christian architecture in the South Caucasus and the broader Armenian architectural tradition. The study was conducted using field documentation methods, as well as metrological and morphological comparative analysis.
