Cable transport has long been part of the mobility system in Algiers, yet its urban role remains under-evaluated and often underestimated. This study examines the integration of cable transport into the urban landscape of Algiers and evaluates the quality of service and user experience. A mixed-method approach was adopted, combining field observation, landscape analysis, user satisfaction surveys, and interviews with institutional actors. The results show that cable transport contributes to accessibility and connection across steep topography, but its urban integration, station surroundings, and maintenance practices remain key challenges that affect both perception and use. The study highlights the need to consider cable transport not only as a technical transport system, but as a structuring component of urban mobility and spatial experience.
Keywords: cable transport, urban mobility, urban landscape of Algiers.
